NOTE:

Case Oriented Rounds

The resident on call the preceding Sunday is responsible for Monday Rounds.
A brief case presentation is followed by informal discussion facilitated by the consult staff.  Overheads
and literature review are not required.  These rounds are held the 3rd and 5th (if the rotation has five
weeks) Mondays at 8:00 am at the Toronto General Hospital, 13 NU Room 1360.

Harvey Rounds

These rounds teach bedside cardiac examination skills using Harvey - a mannequin.  Rounds are led by
staff physicians and everyone can participate based on a multiple-headset technology.  These rounds
are held 2nd and 4th Mondays of the rotation at Toronto Western Hospital, Cecilia Miller Conf Room
8th Floor East Wing.

Evidence-Based Rounds

A schedule is distributed at the start of the rotation.  Articles are selected by the staff.  One resident
is assigned to lead the rounds each week.  The resident should present a 15 to 20 minute critical
appraisal of the study.  All residents and staff will read the article prior to rounds.  These rounds are
held Tuesday mornings at 8:00 am at the Toronto General Hospital, 13 NU Room 1360.

"Staff Teaches" Rounds

A schedule is distributed at the start of the rotation.  The staff physicians on for the month will
present different topics in a didactic format.  These topics will focus on medical issues in
perioperative care, and often include a case based discussion.

Physical Diagnosis Rounds

The resident on call the day of the rounds is responsible with their staff for finding a suitable patient.
(I.e. if you are on call on Friday, they you are responsible for rounds that day). Ideally, patients are
identified Thursday afternoon.
Friday morning physical diagnosis rounds begin at 8:30 am at the designated site. (Location will be
determined each week).  The purpose of these rounds is to enhance skills of bedside assessment and
demonstration of abnormal physical findings.
Residents and staff assigned to the clinic are listed on the monthly schedule.
